Q: We ask you to kindly inform us—may Allah reward you—about the permissibility of importing and selling barley juice beverage , and whether it is lawful or forbidden? It is known that it is sold in the markets of Makkah al-Mukarramah and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah and is called there "alcohol-free beer."
A: If the beverage mentioned does not intoxicate in large quantities, there is no harm in importing and selling it, like other beverages that are free from intoxication; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1865Hasan (Darussalam) .
