He divorced her four times and did not know the limits of divorce
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 258 )
Q: I divorced my wife (R. F.) due to a hardship, and I divorced her four
times, saying: “You are divorced, then divorced, then divorced, then divorced,” and I said: “You are forbidden to me until after another man,” and I was ignorant and did not know the limits of divorce, and she held me accountable for that.
A: If the questioner has not consummated the marriage with this wife, then only the first divorce takes effect, and she has no waiting period, so she becomes lawful to him with a new contract and a new mahr if she agrees to be his wife. If he has consummated the marriage, then this divorce of his results in a major separation, and she does not become lawful to him until after another man. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
