Intercourse with one's wife while she is pregnant, resulting in a miscarriage
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18378 )
Q: I inform you that I am a married man, and Allah granted us the blessing that my wife became pregnant. In the seventh month of pregnancy, it happened that I had intercourse with my wife ,
and immediately after the intercourse, she felt pain and was taken to the hospital. After an examination, they informed me that she was in labor. Naturally, she gave birth to a boy. About half an hour after the birth, the child passed away. Therefore, I submit this question to your eminence, asking Allah and then your eminence to inform me about this matter, and whether anything is required of me? I ask for clarification, and may Allah preserve and care for you.
A: If the matter is as you described, then you owe nothing; because you did not cause the death of the child, and your intercourse with your wife is a matter permitted by the Shari'ah. The original state is the presumption of innocence of the conscience until something is proven that transfers it from that state. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
