Fatwa No. ( 7866 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions. And after that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed the inquiry submitted to His Eminence the General President from the Director of Prince Mansour Military Hospital in al-Ta’if, registered in the Research Department under number (2884) on 23/11/1404 AH, the text of which is as follows: We seek your ruling on some cases that come to us at Prince Mansour Military Hospital in al-Ta’if, where some people come to us asking to have their wives’ wombs tied so they do not become pregnant, and others say: I am satisfied with the children I have, and I do not want to have more children. Likewise, some women come personally and say: I want my womb tied against pregnancy, and they say I am free in my life. Some women and husbands request the insertion of an IUD or the use of contraceptive pills. It is known that the wife’s health is medically good, and she can bear pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, and others make
a long period between pregnancies by means of contraception. What is the ruling of the Lawgiver in such a case? Please rule on this, may Allah reward you.

It answered as follows: If the situation is as described, then it is not permissible in the Shari'ah, as it contradicts the Shari'ah's objective of increasing the offspring. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
