The Validity of the Prayer of al-Fatih

The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 4551 )
Q5: There is a prayer recited by some people: “O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad, the Opener of what was closed and the Closer of what preceded, the Helper of the truth with the truth, and the Guide to the straight path.” Is this supplication valid or not?
A5: This formulation is not established from him (peace and blessings be upon him), and its meaning is correct, except for the phrase “the Opener of what was closed,” which is ambiguous. If it is intended to mean that he opened, through his great Shari'ah, what was closed to people and became confused for them, then it is true. If something else is intended, it must be clarified so that it can be examined. Better and more excellent than this is the Ibrahimiyyah prayer of Muhammad, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught his Companions, and the Companions transmitted to those after them. It is what Muslims recite today at the end of their prayer, before the taslim, and it is the prescribed prayer. As for the prayer called the Prayer of al-Fatih, it is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that must be abandoned; because it was not transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and because of the ambiguity at its beginning, which may contain truth or falsehood. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
