Q4: A man is traveling for work for a long period, and he returned to his family for a short visit of only two days, and found his wife menstruating or in post-natal bleeding. What should he do?
A4: In that situation, it is permissible for him to enjoy her in areas other than her front and back passages, as mentioned previously. He is not granted a dispensation, on account of the travel and long absence mentioned, combined with the short duration of his meeting with her, to have intercourse with her in her front passage during menstruation and post-natal bleeding until the blood stops and she performs the full ritual bath. This is due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:222] Post-natal bleeding has the same ruling as menstruation in this regard. Furthermore, it is forbidden for him to have intercourse in the back passage in all circumstances; for what was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Bulugh al-Maram 8:56 .
