Shaking hands with a non-mahram woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16063 )
Q3: I ask your Eminence to clarify the ruling on shaking hands with a non-mahram woman, and whether an exception is made for shaking hands with a woman who only helped raise me when I was young, but who is not a mahram?
A3: It is not permissible for a man to shake hands with a woman who is not one of his mahrams, even if she helped raise him; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with women who were not lawful for him, and he would take the pledge of allegiance from women by words only and not shake their hands, and because that causes fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) regarding them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
