The dispensation for breaking the fast for the baker in Ramadan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13489 )
Q: In our village, there is a man who works in a (oven) for baking bread. He is a man who prays and fasts in Ramadan, praise be to Allah, but he asked me whether it is permissible for him to break his fast in Ramadan? Knowing that he faces the intense heat of the fire while he makes bread throughout the hours of the day while fasting, therefore
he faces severe thirst and exhaustion in his work, so I ask your Eminence to kindly provide a comprehensive answer to this, may you be rewarded, if Allah wills.
A: It is not permissible for that man to break his fast; rather, it is obligatory for him to fast. The fact that he bakes during the day in Ramadan is not an excuse for breaking the fast, and he must work according to his ability. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
