The Pregnant and Nursing Woman If They Fear for Themselves or the Child in the Month of Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1453 )
Q2: If a pregnant or nursing woman fears for herself or the child in the month of Ramadan and breaks her fast , what is required of her? Does she break her fast, feed the poor, and make up the fast? Or does she break her fast and make it up without feeding the poor? Or does she break her fast and feed the poor without making it up? Which of these three is correct?
A2: If a pregnant woman fears for herself or her fetus from fasting in Ramadan, she breaks her fast and owes only the making up of the fast. Her status in this is the same as that of a sick person who is unable to fast or fears harm to himself from it. Allah the Exalted said:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
Likewise, if a nursing woman fears for herself if she nurses her child in Ramadan, or fears for her child if she fasts and does not nurse him, she breaks her fast and owes only the making up of the fast. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
