Fasting of the Pregnant and Nursing Woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: When is it permissible for a pregnant or nursing woman to break her fast in Ramadan?

Answer: It is permissible for a pregnant or nursing woman to break her fast if she fears for her children that fasting will harm them, because the nourishment the child receives in the womb may become weakened. If that is the case, she may break her fast and make up the days from other days, and she must feed [the poor] along with making up the fast.
Or if she fears for herself, meaning the nursing or pregnant woman fears for herself from fasting, because she is unable to fast while pregnant or while nursing due to weakness in her own body, then she breaks her fast and makes up the days from other days, and she does not have to feed [the poor]. So if she fears for herself, she only has to make up the fast. And if she fears only for her child and does not fear for herself, she has to make up the fast and feed [the poor]. This is what concerns the pregnant and nursing woman regarding when they break their fast.

Question: Is it analogous to the pregnant woman who fears for her child, if someone breaks his fast, for example, to save another person? That is, does he have to make up the fast and also feed [the poor]?

Answer: Yes, it is permissible for a person to break his fast to save another person from a deadly situation if
the situation requires him to break his fast, and he is unable to save the other person from the deadly situation except by breaking his fast, then he may break his fast and make up the fast.

Question: Does he have to pay an expiation of feeding [the poor] along with making up the fast?

Answer: As for the expiation, I do not assert anything regarding it. As for making up the fast, he has to make it up.
