Lending money by the woman's guardian to the groom
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11096 )
Q: A young man wanted to get married and agreed with a man to marry his daughter, but his financial situation is currently difficult and he cannot find enough to get married. He wanted to postpone the bridal gift, and it was found that it is necessary to purchase the wedding requirements and cover the costs of the marriage. So the girl's father wanted to help this young man until Allah opens up for him. He wanted to lend him a sum of money to help with the necessities of the marriage, such as gold and other wedding requirements, and whatever else the marriage requires. Is there any obstacle in this? Because this does not fall under a loan that brings benefit, even though the girl's father does not want any benefit or profit from it, except for the benefit of everyone. May Allah preserve you for Islam and the Muslims.
A: If the matter is as mentioned, then lending money by the woman's guardian to the groom is not of the type of loan that brings benefit. Rather, this lender is doing a favor to the suitor of his daughter, and he is to be thanked for his kindness to him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
