Fatwa number ( 6515 )
Q: A man passed away two years ago and was unable to find a way to perform Hajj,
and now his family and children wish to perform Hajj on his behalf, but they do not have enough money to send someone from Pakistan to perform the Hajj. Therefore, they want to appoint one of the Muslims residing in Mecca to provide the expenses incurred in Mina and 'Arafah and the sacrifice, so that he may perform the Hajj on their behalf. Will the Hajj be valid for him in this manner, and will he receive its reward? Please clarify, may you be rewarded. May Allah reward you with good.

A : The criterion for acting as a proxy in Hajj is the miqat of the proxy performing Hajj on behalf of another, according to the correct opinion of the scholars. Accordingly, it is permissible for you to appoint someone from the people of Mecca or similar countries near the Haram to perform Hajj on behalf of your father. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
