Proxy in Hajj
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20685 )
Q2: My mother is ill with a leg condition; she can walk, but only with difficulty. Her financial situation is weak, and she cannot afford 'Umrah. She has a son in
Saudi Arabia who works there and is able to perform 'Umrah or Hajj on her behalf. Please note that he has already performed 'Umrah and Hajj for himself. Is this permissible? Please note that his financial situation is not sufficient for this. Please advise us.
A2 : Proxy in Hajj is not permissible except for one who is unable due to a permanent inability, or for one who has died. As for one whose inability is expected to end in the future, he should wait until his inability ends and he performs Hajj himself. If your mother is in that situation, she should wait for the obstacle to be removed and then perform Hajj. Alternatively, she can perform Hajj with you; in this case, she would be carried on a litter during the tawaf and sa'y, and the jamarat would be stoned on her behalf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
