Q: I have a sum of money that I have vowed to use for building a mosque, and I am seeking approval. A lunar year has passed over it. Is zakah obligatory on this amount or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good. .
A: If the matter is as described, then zakah is not obligatory on the amount, because the money has been designated by the vow as charity for building the mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
