The movement of raising the hand to suppress yawning

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11586 )
Q: I am a young man who performs all five obligatory prayers at their times, and I thank Allah who has helped me to do so. What I want from your eminence is when I perform the prayer, I yawn a lot, which forces me to raise my hand and close my mouth so that I prevent harm from reaching my believing brother who is praying beside me. And among the things that invalidate the prayer are excessive movements. I ask your eminence to guide me on how to get rid of this habit that bothers me
and bothers those around me? May Allah reward you with good?

A: Seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan after the takbir of ihram and the opening supplication, and before reciting al-Fatihah in the prayer. Reflect on what you recite of the Qur'an in your prayer, and be mindful of the greatness and majesty of Allah in your prayer, in your bowing, and in your prostration. And supplicate to Allah in your prostration, with humility and submission to Him, that He turn away from you the whispers of Shaytan, and that He ward off his scheme from you, and protect you from his trial. If you do that, Allah will help you with it, and ward off from you the laziness you complain of, and grant you energy in your worship, attentiveness to your prayer, and humility in it, by His power and might. Placing your hand over your mouth when yawning is a recommended practice (sunnah), along with holding it in as much as you can, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that. May Allah protect you and care for you in your worship and in all the good you do, and may He accept from us and from you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
