The coincidence of the festival prayer or the prayer for rain with the Friday prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 6936 )
Q1: If the festival prayer or the prayer for rain coincides with the day of
Friday, does it substitute for the Friday prayer and sermon?
A1: The Friday prayer is not waived for one who has prayed the prayer for rain, and we do not know of any scholar who held this view. However, if the day of the festival coincides with Friday, attending the Friday prayer is waived for one who has prayed the festival prayer, except for the imam. The imam must attend the mosque and lead the Friday prayer with whoever is present. As for those who attended the festival prayer but did not attend the Friday prayer, they must pray the midday prayer after its time has entered. Attending the Friday prayer and praying with the people is better. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
