Q6: The adhan is a recommended practice (sunnah) for the obligatory prayers, so what is its ruling if it is played from a recording device when the mu'adhdhins do not perform it properly?
A6: The adhan is a collective obligation (fard kifayah) in addition to being an announcement of the entry of the prayer time and a call to it. Therefore, announcing it from a previous recording does not suffice for its performance when the prayer time enters. The Muslims in every area where prayer is established must appoint among themselves someone who is skilled in performing it when the prayer time enters. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
