He died upon Islam and had killed a soul intentionally; he is among those who committed major sins other than shirk, and he is in the will of Allah

Fatwa number ( 6207 ):
Q: I learned from some who know my father that he killed several people during the time of looting and plundering, and that my father passed away when I was a small child. After learning this, I became confused about how I can do something for my father, since he also died without fulfilling the obligation of Hajj, which I have performed on his behalf. Knowing that he left no children other than me, should I feed a poor person for each one? What should I do? As for freeing a slave, I am unable to do so, and as for fasting, it is a problem for him for a full year. So guide me to the method, may Allah reward you with good.

A: One who dies upon Islam and has killed a soul or souls intentionally is among those who committed major sins other than shirk, and he is in the will of Allah: if Allah wills, He will forgive him, and if He wills, He will punish him; for Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He willsإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[An-Nisa 4:48]
, then there will be a settlement between him and his victim in terms of good deeds and bad deeds. What is required of you to be dutiful to your father is to supplicate for him with mercy and forgiveness, and to give charity on his behalf, so that perhaps Allah will have mercy on him and forgive him. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
