Fatwa No. ( 2358 ):
Q: Is it permissible to carry the Mushaf - the Qur'an - to the lands of the disbelievers?
A: The carrying of the mushaf (the Qur'an) by a Muslim to the lands of the disbelievers is a matter on which the jurists have differed regarding its ruling. A group of them stated that it is permissible to carry it to their lands, while others stated that it is prohibited; due to the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from traveling with it to their lands, out of fear that they might desecrate it, distort it, or attribute falsehood to the Muslims regarding it. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):Muwatta Malik 14:2, and Muslim also narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Ibn Majah 2880Sahih (Darussalam), and from him also, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1869c. And others said: It is permissible to carry it to their lands; for the purpose of conveying the message and establishing the proof against them, and for the sake of preservation
and the understanding of its rulings when necessary, if the Muslims have strength or authority, or something equivalent to them in the form of treaties and covenants, and the like of that which guarantees its preservation and allows for the possibility of benefiting from it in conveying the message, preserving it, and studying it. This is supported by what came in the end of the hadith prohibiting traveling with it to their lands, in the form of the reason given. This latter view is the stronger position; because the benefit is achieved while the harm that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) feared is absent. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Yahya related to me from Malik from one of the Ansar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade defecating or urinating while facing the qibla.
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى أن يسافر بالقرآن إلى أرض العدوthat the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to forbid traveling with the Qur’an to the land of the enemy, lest the enemy gets hold of it.
أنه كان ينهى أن يسافر بالقرآن إلى أرض العدو؛ مخافة أن يناله العدوDo not take the Qur'an on a journey with you, for I am afraid lost it should fall into the hands of the enemy.
لا تسافروا بالقرآن فإني لا آمن أن يناله العدوand the understanding of its rulings when necessary, if the Muslims have strength or authority, or something equivalent to them in the form of treaties and covenants, and the like of that which guarantees its preservation and allows for the possibility of benefiting from it in conveying the message, preserving it, and studying it.
