Treatment for one who feels envy toward some people

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11308 ):
Q: If I sometimes feel hardness in my heart, and sometimes I feel a disease like hidden shirk (associating partners with Allah) or envy toward some people, what is the cure? Especially since I frequently supplicate to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
O Allah! I seek refuge in you lest I associate anything with you while I know it, and I seek your forgiveness for what I do not know.اللهم أعوذ بك من أن أشرك بك وأنا أعلم وأستغفرك لما لا أعلم
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 716
, and I seek forgiveness for my wrongs toward those I envy. Is there another cure that will heal me from this serious disease?

A: You should increase in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted, reciting the Noble Qur'an, performing as many voluntary acts of worship as you can, and keeping the company of people of religion and righteousness. This should be accompanied by sincerity in your deeds for Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), avoiding places of showing off in worship, and driving it away when it occurs by seeking the pleasure of Allah and the Hereafter. As for driving away envy, it is done by believing that all blessings are a gift from Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), and that He is the One who distributed them among His servants. Allah the Exalted said:
It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
[Az-Zukhruf 43:32]
And one should love for his brother what he loves for himself; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسه
Sahih al-Bukhari 13
, and by occupying himself with what benefits him in good words and deeds, away from envy and jealousy. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
