The fourth question of fatwa number ( 6260 ):
Q4: We find that in some mosques during the days of Ramadan, between every two rak'ahs of the tarawih prayer, people are reciting salawat upon the Prophet and upon the rightly guided caliphs, the mothers of the believers, and the ten promised Paradise, in a specific order that they know. What is the ruling on that? How many rak'ahs are in the tarawih prayer, when is it prayed, and when does it begin: the night of the first of Ramadan or the night of the second day? We also find here that many imams pray with half a verse, or one verse, or two very short verses in the tarawih prayer and the Maghrib prayer, especially in Ramadan. What is the ruling on that?
A4: The dhikr or reciting salawat upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) collectively after the obligatory or voluntary prayer, or between the rak'ahs of tarawih, is an invented religious innovation. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4606Sahih (Al-Albani) . And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
