The questioner : His second question says: I recite this supplication in every prayer before the taslim, which is: O Allah, we seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal. I want to know who the Dajjal is and what his trial is?

The Shaykh : This supplication that you are making in your prayer is missing something, which is that you seek refuge from four things, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded.

The questioner : O Allah, send blessings and peace upon him.

The Shaykh : When one of you recites the tashahhud, let him seek refuge in Allah from four things: I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded seeking refuge from these four things after the tashahhud and before the taslim.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for the Dajjal, he is a man who will appear in the end times, claiming lordship. Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) will grant him signs that will be a cause of trial, as a test and examination from Allah the Exalted. This man is one-eyed, and for this reason he is called the Dajjal, because one of his eyes is blind. He will have a Paradise and a Fire with him. Whoever obeys him, he will put him in Paradise, but he will not find Paradise; rather, he will find Fire.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And whoever disobeys him, he will put him in the Fire that is with him, but he will not find it to be Fire; rather, he will find it to be sweet, pleasant water.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Or Paradise, as mentioned in some wordings of the hadith. He will remain on earth for forty days. The first day will be the length of a year, the second day the length of a month, the third day the length of a week, and the remaining days like our days. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this day that is like a year
Did one prayer suffice for it? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, estimate its measure. هل تكفي فيه صلاة واحدة فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا اقدروا له قدره
meaning that in this first day of the Dajjal’s days, a full year’s worth of prayers is performed.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Because it is a full year, and in the second day, a month’s worth of prayers is performed, and in the third day, a week’s worth of prayers is performed, and in the remaining days, five prayers are performed each day. Then, despite the great trial that occurs with this Dajjal, Allah the Exalted will enable the believers to recognize him by his sign. It is written between his eyes: Kafir (disbeliever) — K, A, F, W, R — which every believer, whether a writer or not, can read, while it is hidden from the one who is not a believer, even if he is a reader.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Then, a man is brought to him to ... him, and this man says: "I bear witness that you are the Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us". The Dajjal cuts him into two pieces, a single throw of a spear, then walks between them, then stands and calls him, calling this man who was killed and cut into two pieces. The man rises alive while the people look at him. He says to him: Do you bear witness that I am Allah? He says: "I bear witness that you are the Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us". He cuts him again, then returns and calls him, and he rises and says: "I bear witness that you are the Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us". He tries to kill him as he killed him in the first two times, but he is unable to do so. He takes him and throws him into the Fire, but as we mentioned, the Fire that is with him is Paradise and sweet water, as the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) states. The end of this Dajjal is that 'Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend from the sky, because Allah the Exalted raised 'Isa ibn Maryam to the sky alive, and he did not die. Then he will descend in the end times and kill this Dajjal, and his trial will end.
