Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And those who say, ‘Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and our offspring [the] comfort of our eyes’”

The Shaykh :. They ask Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, to grant them from their wives and their offspring the comfort of their eyes. That is: that which brings comfort to the eye, such as good companionship, righteousness, and cooperation in righteousness and piety, and other things that bring comfort to the eye. And this is better and higher than what came before it. Meaning: Make us leaders for the righteous in piety, in calling to Allah, and in good and righteousness. And this, by Allah, is equal to the entire world: to be a leader for people in the piety of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, such that you are cited as an example, and your words and deeds are followed, and people take you as a model. And the righteous are those who fulfilled the obedience of Allah and avoided what Allah has forbidden.
