A man came to Makkah for the purpose of 'Umrah, but he did not enter the state of ihram from the miqat. What should he do now?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says he came to Makkah for the purpose of 'Umrah, but he did not enter the state of ihram from the miqat. What should he do now?

The Shaykh : Where is the questioner? He came to Makkah for 'Umrah, but he did not enter the state of ihram from the miqat. Yes.

The questioner : I came to Makkah with the intention of 'Umrah, but I did not enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : And now, have you entered the state of ihram or not?

The questioner : No, I have not entered the state of ihram.

The Shaykh : Until now? Now you can go to the miqat that you passed and enter the state of ihram from there, and you owe nothing.

The questioner : What if the miqat is far away, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Like what?

The questioner : Yalamlam.

The Shaykh : Yalamlam is close; it is not far.

The questioner : But what if I entered the state of ihram, for example, from al-Tan'im?

The Shaykh : No, that is not permissible. If you are able to enter the state of ihram from Yalamlam, you enter the state of ihram from Yalamlam. But if it is not possible, then you enter the state of ihram from al-Tan'im, and you owe a fidyah (ransom payment) according to the words of the scholars, which you slaughter in Makkah and distribute to the poor. The matter is not one of choice, but if you are unable to reach Yalamlam, then you enter the state of ihram. This is if you intended 'Umrah. But if you did not intend 'Umrah, and you came to Makkah saying, "If it is facilitated for me to enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah, I will do so; otherwise, I will not," then you enter the state of ihram from the place where 'Umrah is facilitated for you. And if it is facilitated for you in Makkah, go out to al-Tan'im and enter the state of ihram from there. It is known now that oral questions are prohibited with us. May Allah reward you.
