What is the ruling on jihad without the approval of one's parents?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : I want to go to jihad, and my father says to me: If you go, I will be angry with you. What is the solution, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : May Allah guide him.

The questioner : Should I go?

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Go. He is not approving, but if you go, he will be satisfied with the fait accompli, and if Allah wills, he will be pleased.

The Shaykh : Now, is your father committed to the rulings of the Shari'ah?

The questioner : No, no, by Allah.

The Shaykh : Now, have you tried to approach him in the manner of Ibrahim with his father, meaning: O my father, O my father?
If you do that and make it clear to him that jihad in the cause of Allah is the honor of Islam and the honor of the Muslims, and that it is the obligatory duty of the present age, and so on, and if you are unable to do that, seek the help of some strong students of knowledge or shaykhs, if you find among them someone who can assist you in that. You must do so until you establish the proof against him. Then, after that, if you depart to fight in the cause of Allah, his anger will not harm you; rather, it will return to himself.

The questioner : And if the father agrees but the mother refuses, O Shaykh, and this is the usual case, the mother refuses?

The Shaykh : The same answer.
