Another questioner : Even if the cause of breaking the fast was intercourse?

The Shaykh : Intercourse has a known expiation. Then, in some of the authentic narrations we have, he has to make up that day. But this is a matter of disagreement among the scholars: does he make up the day he broke his fast through intercourse or not? The stronger opinion here is that in addition to the expiation, which is to feed sixty poor people, if he cannot do so, he fasts two consecutive months, plus the days he missed.

The questioner : Is feeding first?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Feeding?

The Shaykh : Feeding, yes, that is correct.

The questioner : Is fasting first?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Fasting, in the verse, it is fasting.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : Fasting, and not feeding first?

The Shaykh : What does the verse say?

The questioner : Fasting, first is fasting, fasting for two months or feeding.

The Shaykh : Fasting for two consecutive months.

The questioner : If he cannot do that, then freeing a slave.

The Shaykh : Yes, freeing a slave, there is no such thing today!

The questioner : Fasting for two months for every day?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Fasting for two months for every day or for...?

The Shaykh : For every day. For every day.

The questioner : He will be fasting for the rest of his life, meaning.

The Shaykh : That is better. Whoever is able to be fasting, people are fasting for the rest of their lives voluntarily, even though the Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever fasts for the rest of his life, he has neither fasted nor broken his fast. من صام الدهر ؛ فلا صامَ ولا أفطرَ
