Is the hadith about the punishment of the disbeliever in the grave and the angels striking him applied to the disobedient Muslim?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner:The questioner : He says: Is the hadith about the punishment of the disbeliever in the grave and the angels striking him applied to the disobedient Muslim?

The Shaykh : That is something we do not know. It is possible that the hypocrite or the disbeliever shares with the Muslims in the punishment of the disbeliever by a type of punishment, and this is what is explicitly stated in such as his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Beware of (smearing yourselves with) urine, because it is the main cause of punishment in the grave
Bulugh al-Maram 103
. This indicates that the Muslim is punished in the grave, but what is the nature of this punishment? That is something we do not know. Also, supporting the meaning of this hadith is the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) which was narrated byThe Shaykh : in "their two Sahihs" that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by two graves and said (peace be upon him):
Their occupants are being punished, but not for a great sin. One of them did not keep himself from being defiled by urine. (A version by Muslim has "did not keep himself undefiled by urine”.) The other went about spreading slander. أما إنهما ليعذبان ، وما يعذبان في كبير ، أما أحدهما فكان لا يستنزه - وفي رواية - لا يستتر من البول ، وأما الآخر ؛ فكان يسعى بالنميمة
Mishkat al-Masabih 338
. Then he ordered (peace and blessings be upon him) that a palm branch be brought to him, so he split it into two pieces, and placed one on one grave and the other on the other. They asked him about that (peace be upon him), and he said:
Perhaps Allah will alleviate it for them as long as they remain fresh.
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 7:703
. This also explicitly states that the Muslim is punished in his grave because of a sin he committed in his life. Two sins are mentioned here in the hadith: for one of them, he neglected cleaning himself and did not take precaution against being hit by the spray of urine, and the other was that he used to spread talebearing.
And his saying (peace be upon him) when he placed a piece of that branch on each grave:
Perhaps Allah will alleviate it for them as long as they remain fresh.
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 7:703
indicates that they were Muslims. This is confirmed by what came in "Sahih Muslim" from the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when asked about the placement mentioned and the reason that motivated him to do so, said:
Perhaps Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will alleviate it for them by my intercession.
meaning: by my supplication. The meaning of this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for them that Allah would alleviate from them the punishment that befell them as long as the branches remained fresh. Yes.
Yes.
