Continuation: Sincerity of action for Allah - Mighty and Majestic - .

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for His saying - Mighty and Majestic - :
and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
, what is meant in this verse is: Let the one who hopes to meet his Lord in his righteous work be sincere to Allah - Mighty and Majestic -, not showing off, and not hoping for anything behind his righteous work except the pleasure of Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He -. Many hadiths have come regarding this occasion, containing what is sufficient to admonish and awaken the heart of the Muslim from his heedlessness in some of his righteous deeds, where the soul that commands evil may overcome him, turning his worship, which is according to the Sunnah, into a calamity for him. Why? Because he did not make it sincere for Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He -, but rather associated others with Him in it; that is, he intended the face of someone other than Allah - Mighty and Majestic - in his work.
Among those hadiths is what al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated in their "Sahih" from the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A man from us, O Messenger of Allah, fights with bravery. Is he in the path of Allah?" He said:
No. لا
. He said: "A man from us fights out of tribal loyalty. Is he in the path of Allah?" He said:
No. لا
. "A man fights for such and such. Is he in the path of Allah?" He said:
No. لا
, saying "No, no" every time. He said: "Then who is in the path of Allah?" He said:
Whoever fought so that the Word of Allah is supreme, then he is in Allah's cause.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1646Sahih (Darussalam)
. The meaning of that is that whoever fights for other than exalting the word of Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He - is not in the path of Allah, but rather is in the path of Satan. Therefore, every Muslim should monitor his deeds, and especially his jihad, which may expose him to death; so he should make his jihad sincere for the face of Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He -, as He (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a hadith narrated by al-Hakim in "al-Mustadrak" from the hadith of Abu ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Give this Ummah good news of elevation, honor, glory, and establishment in the earth. And whoever among them does a deed for the world, he has no share in the Hereafter. And whoever among them does a deed from the deeds of the Hereafter for the world, he has no share in the Hereafter.
.
And among the most terrifying and deterrent hadiths for one who does not make his work sincere for Allah - Mighty and Majestic -, even if it is among the most elevated and noblest deeds in the sight of Allah, is that this deed turns into a calamity for him because he did not make it sincere for Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He -. That is the hadith that Imam Muslim narrated in his "Sahih" from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The first ones for whom the Fire will be kindled on the Day of Resurrection are three: a scholar, a mujahid, and a wealthy man.
. Look at the best of people in deeds: they are these three, a scholar, a mujahid, and a wealthy man. Yet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the truthful and trustworthy, informs us that the first ones for whom the Fire will be kindled and Hell will be stoked on the Day of Resurrection are these three types: the scholar, the mujahid, and the wealthy man. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the completion of the hadith:
The scholar will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him: "What did you do with what you knew?" He will say: "O my Lord, I spread it in Your path." It will be said to him: "You lied; you only taught so that people would say, 'So-and-so is a scholar.' And it will be said: 'Take him to the Fire.'"
. That is, what he sought of love for fame and prominence has been attained by him through his knowledge, so he has no share in the Hereafter, as mentioned earlier in the hadith of Abu ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him).
Then the mujahid will be brought and it will be said to him: "What did you do with the strength I bestowed upon you?" He will say: "O my Lord, I fought in Your path." It will be said to him: "You lied! You only fought so that it would be said: 'So-and-so is a hero, so-and-so is brave.' And it will be said: 'Take him to the Fire,' and he will be thrown into Hell. Then the wealthy man will be brought, who spent his wealth in the path of Allah - as it appears to people, so Allah will hold him accountable and ask him, and He knows best what is in his heart - "What did you do with the wealth I bestowed upon you?" He will say: "O my Lord, I spent it in Your path." It will be said to him: "You lied, you only spent so that people would say, 'So-and-so is generous.' And it will be said: 'Take him to the Fire.'"
. Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
So the first ones for whom the Fire will be kindled on the Day of Resurrection are these three: the scholar, the mujahid, and the wealthy man.
. From here, we summarize something very important, which is what our Lord - Mighty and Majestic - indicated in the previous verse:
So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
, that is, in accordance with the Sunnah.
and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
; that is, let him be sincere in every act of worship he performs for Allah - Mighty and Majestic -, not seeking reward or gratitude from people.
So we ask Allah - Mighty and Majestic - to make us know and teach us the work that our Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was upon, and to inspire us with sincerity in it for Him alone, having no partner.
Yes.
