Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (The one who will be burned in the Great Fire)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-A'la: 12-13] The one who will be burned in the Fire described as the Great Fire, which is: the Fire of Hell; because the Fire of this world is small in comparison to it. It is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: (Your fire is one part of seventy parts of the Fire of Hell) meaning: the Fire of the Hereafter exceeds the Fire of this world by sixty-nine times.
And the intended meaning is: The entire Fire of this world is not a specific fire, but rather it is the most intense of the Fire of this world, for the Fire of the Hereafter exceeds it by sixty-nine parts. For this reason, Allah described it by saying: [Al-A'la: 12] Then, when he is burned in it, he will not die therein nor live. The meaning: He will not die so that he may find rest, nor will he live a happy life. Otherwise, they are alive in reality, but they are living while being tormented. [Al-Nisa: 56] As Allah Mighty and Majestic said: [Al-Zukhruf: 77] He is the keeper of the Fire. [Al-Zukhruf: 77] meaning: that our Lord may destroy us and relieve us from this punishment. [Al-Zukhruf: 77] Therein is the abiding punishment. And it is said to them: [Al-Zukhruf: 78] .
This is the meaning of his saying: [Al-A'la: 13] For it may be difficult for some people to understand how a person can be neither alive nor dead?It is said: He will not die a death that brings him rest, nor will he live a life that brings him happiness. So, may Allah protect us, he is in punishment, torment, and severity. He wishes for death, but it does not come to him. This is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-A'la: 13] .
Allah the Exalted said:
(12) [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire, (13) Neither dying therein nor living.
And the intended meaning is: The entire Fire of this world is not a specific fire, but rather it is the most intense of the Fire of this world, for the Fire of the Hereafter exceeds it by sixty-nine parts. For this reason, Allah described it by saying:
The Great Fire
Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins
And they will call, "O Malik
وَنَادَوْا يَا مَالِكُlet your Lord put an end to us
He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
This is the meaning of his saying:
