The Meaning of the Saying of Allah, the Exalted: "He who fears [Allah] will be reminded. And the most wretched will turn away from it. He who will be cast into the Great Fire. Then he will not die therein nor live."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.
[Al-A'la 87:10]
do not fall upon them deaf and blind.
[Al-Furqan 25:73]
If he fears Allah and is reminded by Allah and warned by Allah, he remembers and restrains himself from what is forbidden and performs what is obligatory.
And the most wretched will turn away from it ويتجنبها
That is, he turns away from the reminder.
The most wretched
The most wretched one, may Allah protect us from that, for whom misery has been written.
(12) [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire, (13) Neither dying therein nor living.
[Al-A'la 87:12-13]
"Cast into the Fire" means he is burned by it until he becomes molten, may Allah protect us from that.
Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment
[An-Nisa 4:56]
"The Great" is a description of the Fire, and the meaning is not that there is a great fire and a small fire; this is a description of the Fire that it is great. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that it is
It is superior to the fire of this world by sixty-nine parts
and that the fire of this world is one part out of seventy parts of the Fire of the Hereafter. And yet, the most wretched one who did not remember through the Qur'an is burned by it.
Neither dying therein nor living.
[Al-A'la 87:13]
How does he not die and not live? Is there anything in it other than life and death? If not, how are life and death negated? It is negated in a manner other than what we understand. The meaning is not that he does not die and does not live, but rather he is either dead or alive. However, he does not die in a way that brings him relief, nor does he live a noble life in which he is saved from the punishment. So the negation here is a negation of perfection; that is, he does not die a complete death that brings him relief, nor does he live a complete life in which he is happy in his life. Otherwise, they are alive and wish for death. Allah, the Exalted, said:
And they will call, "O Malik ونادوا يا مالك
[Az-Zukhruf 43:77]
Who called out? The companions of the Fire.
And they will call, "O Malik ونادوا يا مالك
[Az-Zukhruf 43:77]
"O Malik, the keeper of the Fire."
let your Lord put an end to us
[Az-Zukhruf 43:77]
Meaning, let our Lord put an end to us, so that our death may bring us relief. He said:
You will remain therein
"There is no death in it, nor is there a noble life." So it became that he does not die, meaning a complete death that brings him relief from the punishment, nor does he live, meaning a complete life in which he is happy.
