How to reconcile Allah’s saying: “The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years” with His saying

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. How do we reconcile these two verses? Allah the Exalted says:
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
[Al-Ma'arij 70:4]
and His saying:
And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.
[Al-Hajj 22:47]
?

The Shaykh : As for the first verse:
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
[Al-Ma'arij 70:4]
, the phrase
in a day في يوم
is not connected to the phrase
Ascend
, but rather to the phrase:
Realized واقع
(1) A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen (2) To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. (3) [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. (4) The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day
[Al-Ma'arij 70:1-4]
. This means that this punishment is realized in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years. This aligns with the authentic hadith that
If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him; these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them. Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years
Sahih Muslim 987a
.
And as for His saying:
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him
[Al-Ma'arij 70:4]
, it is an explanation of His saying
of it there is no preventer. (3) [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.
[Al-Ma'arij 70:2-3]
.
So why is He described as the One of the Ascending Stairways? Because the angels ascend to Him, and the Spirit ascends to Him.
And as for His saying:
And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.
[Al-Hajj 22:47]
, this is a day with Allah whose number we do not know.
