Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And We sent down from the sky blessed water, and thereby We caused gardens and grain to grow)
The Exalted said: [Q:11], because the rain descends little by little, and it may be referred to as (sent down); because the wadis and valleys flow with it.
And his statement: [Q:9],Meaning: from on high; because this rain descends from the clouds, not from the sky which is the preserved ceiling;By the evidence of His saying, the Exalted: [al-Baqarah:164] So it descends from on high, and the wisdom in its descent from on high is that it encompasses the peaks of the mountains, the resting places of the camels, the plains, and the wadis; because if it came flowing on the ground, it would not reach the peaks of the mountains, but Allah Mighty and Majestic made it from above.
And his statement: [Q:9] Among its blessings is that Allah causes to grow [Q:9] (the gardens) are: orchards with many trees, and orchards with many trees are called gardens because they conceal,Meaning: covering what is beneath them,And every orchard with trees intertwined with one another is called: a garden.
And as for His saying: [Q:9] meaning: the crops that are harvested, so Allah mentioned here the trees and the crops, from the trees the fruits are cut, and from the crops the grains are harvested.
