Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And We sent down from the sky blessed water, and thereby We caused gardens and the grain of the harvest to grow)).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
(9) And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest (10) And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers - وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنْ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مُبَارَكاً فَأَنْبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ
[Qaf 50:9-10]
and so on. "We sent down": The linguists say there is a difference between "We sent down" (anzalna) and "We caused to descend" (nazzalna), although one may be used in place of the other. However, the primary or original difference is that "tanzil" (sending down) occurs gradually, while "inzal" (causing to descend) occurs all at once. Rain descends from the sky gradually.
And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky
[Qaf 50:9]
Here, "the sky" means the height, and it does not refer to the sky that is the preserved ceiling above the earth, but rather to the height, because rain descends from the clouds, and the clouds are not the sky, but the clouds are in the height. The evidence that water descends from the clouds is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them
[Ar-Rum 30:48]
And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said:
and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth
[Al-Baqarah 2:164]
Some people may understand that rain descends from the upper sky onto the clouds, and then from the clouds to the earth. Rather, the rain is from the clouds themselves. Allah the Exalted said:
And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water
[An-Naba 78:14]
The "Mu'asirat" are the clouds, as if they are wringing the clouds as one wrings a garment, so the rain falls from them. So here He says:
sent down water from the sky
[Al-Hijr 15:22]
meaning from the clouds, which are in the height, blessed water, which is the rain. Among its blessings is that Allah brings the earth to life with it after its death, and among its blessings is that Allah preserves it in the earth for us to drink and to water our livestock. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
(68) And have you seen the water that you drink? (69) Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? (70) If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:68-70]
So in another verse, He specified that He stores it in the earth. He stores it in the earth, channeling it into springs. Whenever we wish, we dig and find water, even if it were on the surface of the earth. This rainwater, if the earth did not absorb it and it remained on its surface, it would evaporate quickly, corrupt the air, and prevent people from the benefit of the earth's vegetation. But Allah the Exalted made the earth swallow it and store it until the time we need it, so we extract it.
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
Blessed water.
And among its blessings is the awe that is realized through it regarding the power of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. For the rational person says: How does this rain descend from this cloud, which when you see it, it is as if you are seeing pieces of cotton? But our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, is capable of all things. And when rain descends, a person should say: "O Allah, make it a beneficial rain," supplicating to Allah that it be a beneficial rain, because rain may descend and not be beneficial, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in what is authentic from him:
It is not the drought that you do not receive rain, but rather that you receive rain and the earth does not grow anything.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) spoke the truth. Also, when rain descends, a person should uncover his garment, meaning... his garment, so that the rain touches him, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do that. He was asked: Why do you uncover your garment so that the rain touches your body? He said:
Because it has recently been with its Lord.
Sunan Abi Dawud 5100Sahih (Al-Albani)
Allah is the Greatest, for it is newly created, so it is newly created by Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And when rain descends, a person should go out, if he wishes, to the valley to purify himself with it, with the rain, as people do today. They go out after the rain to the valleys to purify themselves with it. But most people do not realize this; they go out only for a walk. And what is recommended is that you go out to purify yourself with it, because Allah the Exalted said:
and We send down from the sky pure water
[Al-Furqan 25:48]
meaning pure in itself and purifying for others.
