The Shaykh Al-Albani's response to some of the Shi'ah's doubts, such as their claim that the Qur'an in our hands is incomplete.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah. Please begin your question with the greeting of peace, the salam, both when entering and when leaving.

The questioner : Yes, I intended to read to him the message that...

The Shaykh : I mean, the message contains the greeting of peace upon you, if you had...

The questioner : You intended...

The Shaykh : If you had introduced it, it would have been of benefit, but in any case...

The questioner : I intended to convey the message as it is.

The Shaykh : ...that this mushaf which we recite morning and evening is only a quarter of the mushaf that was with Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), so they claim. And by that, they have stepped out of the circle of Islam when they disbelieved that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) preserved this noble Qur'an. These people have no weight from this perspective. The Qur'an between the covers of the mushaf is the preserved one, preserved by Allah (Mighty and Majestic). But the major problem is in the other aspect, which relates to what I mentioned earlier, that among the merits of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) over us, the later generations, is that we said those Salaf received the Qur'an from the mouth of the Prophet (peace be upon him) fresh and green, in its words and in its meanings as well, in its words and in its meanings. As for us today, we differ from them in the second matter. We agree with them that the Qur'an reached us as it reached them, complete, contrary to those we referred to. As for the meaning, the meaning of the Qur'an, we are now living in a severe disagreement among scholars regarding the interpretation of some or many of the verses of the noble Qur'an. And this has a cause, and this cause also requires another pause to clarify the truth that must be mentioned. Our Lord (Mighty and Majestic), as mentioned in the previous verse:
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
[Al-Hijr 15:9]
, said in another verse addressing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them وَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ
[An-Nahl 16:44]
; so by the indication of this noble verse, we can name the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or we can derive for him (peace and blessings be upon him) a name from this verse:
that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ
[An-Nahl 16:44]
What is this name? The one who makes clear, the one who makes clear
so that you may make clear لِتُبَيِّنَ
. So here, he is the one who makes clear what was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which is the Qur'an. And likewise, we can apply to the noble Qur'an a name derived from the same verse, just as it is called the Qur'an and it is called the Furqan, so we can say that it is the one who makes clear. The one who makes clear is the Messenger (peace be upon him), and the one who makes clear is the Qur'an. The one who makes clear is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). His clarification is what is known to all scholars: the Sunnah. The Sunnah clarifies the Qur'an, and the Sunnah is divided into three categories: his saying (peace and blessings be upon him), his doing, and his approval.
