Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (The people of Noah denied before them, so they denied Our servant and said, "He is a madman," and he was driven away)
Then Allah the Mighty and Majestic began with the stories of the prophets in a concise manner in this surah, but it is profoundly impactful. If you read it with patience and reflection, you will find it very moving.Brief words, but completely deterrent: [Al-Qamar: 9] And Noah is the first of the messengers; the first messenger Allah sent to the people of the earth is Noah, as indicated by the Qur'an and the Sunnah: Allah the Blessed and Exalted said: [An-Nisa: 163],And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hadid: 26] And by this we know that what some historians mentioned, namely that Idris was the grandfather of Noah, is undoubtedly a lie. There was no messenger before Noah, and even in the hadith of intercession, it is explicitly stated that he is the first messenger Allah sent to the people of the earth. And so it is part of our creed: That the first of the messengers is Noah and the last of the prophets is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is a prophet and a messenger.
(The people of Noah denied before them) Allah the Exalted did not detail this denial, but He revealed a complete surah regarding it, which is Surah Noah, in which Allah provided a complete detail of their denial and their punishment.
[Al-Qamar: 9] And he is Noah. Allah described him with servitude because servitude is the most noble of human titles. Servitude to Allah is the most noble of human titles.and she: Humbling oneself to Him in obedience, repentance, reliance, and other such matters.Servitude, in itself, is of three types: The first is a general servitude that encompasses all creation, which is: humbling oneself to the cosmic decree. As He, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Maryam: 93] (Indeed, everyone) means: no one in the heavens and the earth will be in a state other than this: that he will come to the Most Merciful as a servant. And this is servitude to the cosmic decree, because the command of Allah the Exalted is cosmic, and no one can escape it, no matter how strong he is.
The second: The servitude specific to the believers.Such as the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Furqan: 63] This is general for every believer.
The third: The servitude specific to the prophets. And this is like what Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Isra: 1] [Al-Furqan: 1] [Al-Kahf: 1] And among that is this verse: [Al-Qamar: 9].
And Noah remained among them a thousand years except fifty years, calling them to Allah. But whenever he called them to Allah so that He would forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears so they would not hear His words, and they covered themselves with their clothes so they would not see him, and they were arrogant in their arrogance. And nothing is more eloquent than this arrogance: That a person puts his hand in his ears so he does not hear the call of the caller, and that he covers himself with his garment so they do not see him.
His statement: [Al-Qamar: 9] Madman: one who has lost his mind, who raves with what he does not know. They said: That he is a madman. And this statement was made about all the messengers.Allah the Exalted said: [Adh-Dhariyat: 52] And (or) here is either for variation,So some of them say: A sorcerer,And some of them say: A madman, or they are saying this and that. In any case, they said of Noah that he is a madman.
[Al-Qamar: 9] It is said: He was driven away with severe driving away. And al-zajr: It is harsh and violent rebuke. The dal here is a transformation of a ta.And the scholars have said: That the increase in the structure indicates an increase in the meaning. And the meaning is: That it is a severe driving away. And his statement: (And he was driven away) It should not be connected to what comes before it;Because if you connect it and say: And they said, "He is a madman," and he was driven away.
The listener would assume that they are saying: Madman and he was driven away means: someone else drove him away. But the meaning is the opposite. So they denied Our servant and he was driven away. This is the meaning.
Therefore: It is better to pause at: (And they said, "He is a madman") Then start and say: (And he was driven away) So here, these deniers did not limit themselves to denying, but they denied, drove away, threatened, and mocked.
Then Allah the Mighty and Majestic began with the stories of the prophets in a concise manner in this surah, but it is profoundly impactful. If you read it with patience and reflection, you will find it very moving.Brief words, but completely deterrent:
before them, did the people of Noah
Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him
And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture
(The people of Noah denied before them) Allah the Exalted did not detail this denial, but He revealed a complete surah regarding it, which is Surah Noah, in which Allah provided a complete detail of their denial and their punishment.
So they denied Our servant
There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.
The second: The servitude specific to the believers.Such as the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily
The third: The servitude specific to the prophets. And this is like what Allah the Exalted said:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book
So they denied Our servant
And Noah remained among them a thousand years except fifty years, calling them to Allah. But whenever he called them to Allah so that He would forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears so they would not hear His words, and they covered themselves with their clothes so they would not see him, and they were arrogant in their arrogance. And nothing is more eloquent than this arrogance: That a person puts his hand in his ears so he does not hear the call of the caller, and that he covers himself with his garment so they do not see him.
His statement:
And they said, "A madman."
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
And he was forbidden.
