The ruling on the zakah of funds received after the initial amount has reached the nisab and a lunar year has passed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: A man has wealth, and his nisab is approximately ten thousand riyals, for example, in the first of Muharram. In Ramadan, he receives another amount of approximately ten thousand riyals, and in Dhul-Hijjah, another ten thousand riyals. When the lunar year completes—making the total thirty thousand—does he pay zakah on the thirty thousand or only on the first ten thousand? The Shaykh: Is the ten thousand that came in Ramadan and in Dhul-Hijjah profit? The questioner: No, it is like an inheritance or something else.

The Shaykh: From the beginning of ownership, each ten thousand has its own lunar year. So the first ten thousand that he owned in Muharram, he pays zakah on it when Muharram comes. The one he owned in Ramadan, he pays zakah on it in Ramadan. The one in Dhul-Hijjah, he pays zakah on it when Dhul-Hijjah comes. If he wishes to pay zakah on all of them together in Muharram, he may do so, and it will be an early payment so that the zakah of his wealth is through one path, and there is no harm in that.
