Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (That is the extent of their knowledge)

We have reached the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
That is their sum of knowledge
[Surat al-Najm: 30] in Surat al-Najm, meaning: (That) refers to the fact that they are turning away and averted, desiring nothing but the life of this world,Meaning: that is the limit of their knowledge; for their knowledge is limited, they do not look to the future, and they do not believe in the news. You will find their greatest concern is to improve their condition in this world, while they are averted from their condition in the Hereafter.
That is their sum of knowledge
[Surat al-Najm: 30] And in the transmitted supplication: (O Allah, do not make this world our greatest concern, nor the limit of our knowledge).

Then Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.
[Surat al-Najm: 30] He is the Exalted, the Most Knowing of those who have strayed from His path in reality, and of those who will stray; for He is All-Knowing of what has been and what will be,His saying: (of those who have strayed) does not mean that He does not know except those who have actually strayed, but rather He knows those who have actually strayed and those who will stray; for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is described with perfect knowledge of the present, the future, and the past,And his statement:
and He is most knowing of who is guided.
[Surat al-Najm: 30] is the opposite of straying,So people are between two categories: either a guided one or a straying one. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) specified that (He is the Most Knowing of those who have strayed from His path, and He is the Most Knowing of those who have been guided) for two benefits: The first benefit is that we know that any straying or guidance that occurs is issued from the knowledge of Allah and by His will; for it is not possible for anything to exist in His creation that contradicts what He knows. If it were possible for something to exist in His creation that contradicts what He knows, then Allah would be ignorant, and may He be exalted from that.

The second benefit: warning against straying and encouraging guidance. As long as a person knows that any action he performs is known to Allah, he will fear disobeying Allah, and he will be pleased to please Allah (Mighty and Majestic),So the benefit is two things: The first: that nothing occurs in the universe except by the knowledge of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).

The second: encouraging guidance or being guided, and warning against straying,Meaning: as if He is saying: If you stray, Allah is aware of you, and if you are guided, Allah is aware of you. He will reward those who did evil according to what they did, and He will reward those who did good with the best.
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.
[Surat al-Najm: 30].
