The questioner : I am married to my maternal aunt's daughter. One year after our marriage, I left for Iraq to earn a living. When I arrived in Iraq, my father and mother expelled my wife, although I have a daughter from her. I want to travel from Iraq to Egypt, which is my home, after an absence of three years. I am confused about my situation. When I arrive in the country, should I go first to my father and mother, or should I go to my wife and daughter? Please note that my father and mother want to divorce her? I ask you for guidance. May Allah reward you?

The Shaykh : We say: Both your parents and your wife and daughter have rights upon you. However, it is better that you start with your parents. Go to them, greet them, and sit with them as long as Allah wills. Then, proceed to your family, your wife and daughter. It is known that you will reside mostly with your wife and daughter, and you will come to your parents on the basis of a visit, or you will come to your parents on the basis of a visit.
