Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 18438 )
Q1: I am independent from my father and live with my mother. I told my father that I want to get married, and my father said to me that he is ready to cover all the costs of my marriage and is ready to build me a house at his place, but on the condition that I let my mother go to her family’s house. I am poor and cannot afford to get married. What is the ruling on this statement, and what should I do?
A1: Do not accept this condition your father imposed on you, which is to expel your mother from your home in order for him to marry you off; because this is a sin
and undutifulness to your mother. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق
Mishkat al-Masabih 3696
. And Allah will provide you with better than what your father has if you maintain dutifulness to your mother; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا (2) وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَحْتَسِبُ
[At-Talaq 65:2-3]
the verse from Surat al-Talaq. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
