Is it permissible in our supplication to say, “O Allah, let Muhammad intercede for us”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible in our supplication to say, “O Allah, let Muhammad intercede for us”?

The Shaykh : As for the one who says, “O Allah, let Your Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) intercede for me,” there is nothing wrong with that. For this reason, we are commanded to say, after the adhan, if we follow the mu'adhdhin, we are commanded to say: “O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad. O Lord of this perfect call and this established prayer, grant Muhammad the wasilah and the excellence, and raise him to the honored position that You have promised him. Indeed, You do not break Your promise.” We are commanded to say that because whoever says it is granted the intercession of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So we are commanded to do all the causes by which intercession is obtained, or by which the intercession of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is obtained. And among these is supplication, for supplication is one of the greatest causes for attaining the intended goal, as Allah the Exalted said:
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." وقال ربكم ادعوني أستجب لكم
[Ghafir 40:60]
So if you ask Allah Mighty and Majestic to make His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) an intercessor for you, there is no blame on you in this. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
