Does the righteous son intercede for his parents in the Hereafter, and how?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He has a second question, saying: O honorable Shaykh, does the righteous son intercede for his parents...

The Shaykh : Is it?

The questioner : Does the righteous son, or the righteous child, intercede for his parents in the Hereafter, and how?

The Shaykh : As for the young children who died while they were young, it has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that they will be a shield and a barrier from the Fire for their parents.
As for those who have reached maturity, they intercede for their fathers in the state in which they are permitted to do so. Among the forms of intercession is supplication for the deceased, for supplication for the deceased is intercession for him, by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
If any Muslim dies and forty men who associate nothing with Allah stand over his prayer (they offer prayer over him), Allah will accept them as intercessors for him. ما من رجل مسلم يموت فيقوم على جنازته أربعون رجلا لا يُشركون بالله شيئا إلا شفّعهم الله فيه
Sahih Muslim 948
. This indicates that supplication for another is intercession for him. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased). إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاثة إلا من صدقة جارية أو علم يُنتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Sahih Muslim 1631
. He mentioned supplication because supplication is intercession for the one for whom it is made. So I encourage our brothers to make much supplication for their parents, whether they are alive or dead, because that is the path of the righteous children who have obeyed the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." وَاخفِض لَهُما جَناحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحمَةِ وَقُل رَبِّ ارحَمهُما كَما رَبَّياني صَغيرًا
[Al-Isra 17:24]
. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
