The Status of Hajj in the Shari'ah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in this meeting, we speak briefly about something related to Hajj. First: Hajj is a pillar of Islam, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Jibril asked him:
He said: "It is to bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah [SWT] and that Muhammad [SAW] is the Messenger of Allah, to establish the Salah, to give Zakah, to fast Ramadan, and to perform Hajj to the House قال أخبرني عن الإسلام قال أن تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله، وتقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة، وتصوم رمضان، وتحج البيت
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4990Sahih (Darussalam)
And the Muslims have reached scholarly consensus that Hajj is a pillar of Islam, and that whoever denies its obligatory nature is an apostate from Islam, and whoever is negligent regarding it is in danger, meaning that whoever abandons it while it is obligatory upon him is in great danger. So much so that Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), in a narration from him, said: "He becomes a disbeliever" But the correct view is that he does not become a disbeliever, but he is in danger,
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
