A word by the Shaykh on the importance of marriage and its virtue.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: O my brothers, this meeting of ours, tonight, is the meeting for the month of Safar, in the year 1414 AH. It was scheduled to be on the night of Sunday, the third of every month, and it remains so, but last week there was an obstacle to holding it at its scheduled time, and praise be to Allah, as they say, the decree reflects the performance; we held it tonight. The suggestion put forward by our brother, Shaykh Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sayyigh, is an acceptable suggestion, because it is at a suitable time. People in the vacation days in this region and in other regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have a lot of marriages. The prevalence of marriage among the youth is a matter of joy, because that is obedience to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), where he said:
Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality; but those who cannot should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire. يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج فإنه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج، ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فإنه له وجاء

, and following the reports of the messengers (peace be upon them all), by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We have already sent messengers before you and assigned to them wives and descendants وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً
[Ar-Ra'd 13:38]
. We are pleased to find much marriage among our young men and young women for this reason, and for a third reason, which is obtaining the benefits of marriage, such as the protection of private parts, lowering the gaze, and the acquisition of children. The more children a nation has, the stronger its power becomes, and the more diverse its occupations, between those engaged in factories, those engaged in farms, those engaged in livestock, those engaged in carpentry, and those engaged in blacksmithing. So the more individuals a nation has, the more that is undoubtedly a source of strength for it, self-sufficiency in itself without others, and a cause of awe for it, because large nations are feared even if they are weak in matters of crafts and technology. So with the prevalence of marriage comes the prevalence of offspring, and this is a purpose intended by the Lawgiver. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Marry the loving and fertile women تزوجوا الودود الولود
. "Al-Wadud" means one who is full of affection, because if affection is established between the spouses, their meeting increases, and if their meeting increases, their reproduction increases. For this reason, he followed his saying:
Marry the affectionate and fertile. تزوجوا الودود
with his saying:
The fertile. الولود
, for I will outnumber the prophets with you.
