The questioner : ... in the hadith ... in the book of al ... .

The Shaykh : No.
'Abbas 'Id: The hadith of Ali who complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, this is a munkar (denounced) hadith ... some of the early Imams [disagreed with it]. Al-Hakim said in al-Mustadrak that he narrated it in his Mustadrak and graded it as authentic. When the critic al-Dhahabi al-Dimashqi looked at it, he said: "The chain is clean, but the text is munkar (denounced)." So I was amazed at him, how he judged its chain to be clean when it contains the 'an'anah (summary narration) of Ibn Jurayj, who is the one who says in his biography in his famous book "Mizan al-I'tidal fi Naqd al-Rijal" that he narrates from some weak men and then conceals them, meaning he drops them from the chain and narrates from those above them. He said regarding al-Dhahabi: "If he explicitly states the narration in his hadith, meaning if he says 'So-and-so narrated to me,' then it is a proof. But if he says 'from so-and-so,' then it is not a proof." And he said this about Ibn Jurayj in the hadith of memorizing the Qur'an that ... .

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : So Ibn Jurayj in this hadith used 'an'anah and did not explicitly state the narration, so it matched the critique, or some of the critique, of al-Dhahabi when he said that the text is munkar (denounced). The defect that was found in this chain and was not noticed for its own sake there in his commentary on al-Mustadrak, but he pointed to it in a general way in the biography of Ibn Jurayj. Therefore, the hadith is not authentic, neither in terms of its chain nor in terms of its text.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Because, I mean, that a person, merely by supplication, becomes able to memorize the Qur'an which he struggled with night and day and it slipped from his chest, and he becomes able to memorize it. If that were the case, every person, especially like ... us who are in need of memorizing the Qur'an, would pray this prayer and supplicate with this supplication, and ... he would memorize the Qur'an and be at ease.
'Ayd 'Abassi: ... .

The Shaykh : As there is in ... a long hadith, other things I do not recall, please proceed.
