The questioner : The questioner says in her final question, “I am Umm Yusuf from the outskirts of 'Afeef. My father is married to a woman other than my mother. Is it permissible for my children to greet her?”

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for the children of the other wife to greet their father’s wife, because she is a mahram (a relative one may not marry) to them, as Allah the Exalted said:
And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to Allah] and was evil as a way.
[An-Nisa 4:22]

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
