The Shaykh : Second: We see some people coming to the Sacred Mosque as if they do not wish to stand before Allah. You find them on the stairs laughing, pushing each other, and making movements that indicate a lack of humility, a lack of awe for the place, and a lack of preparation to stand before Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Yet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 636 It is not the conduct of a believer who is approaching prayer, approaching a place where he stands before Allah (Mighty and Majestic), conversing with his Lord and drawing near to Him through his words, supplication, glorification, and exaltation. It is not his conduct to laugh, push, shove his companion, or joke with him, as if they are approaching one of the halls of a cinema. We ask Allah for guidance for us and for them. You are approaching an act of worship in the best of places, in the Sacred Mosque. How is it fitting for you to do this? What is fitting for a believer is to come to prayer in every place with humility, tranquility, dignity, contemplation, and reflection: what will he do, and whom is he addressing and conversing with? So that he may be as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded.
