The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : A man is afflicted with epilepsy and is undergoing treatment that lasts three years or more, and he takes the medication three times a day. In the past Ramadan, he left out the noon dose for the sake of fasting, but that did not lead to a good result. The doctor tells him that if he leaves out the noon dose, it will disrupt the treatment and affect the outcome. So what should I do this year? Should I feed a poor person for each day, or should I fast, or should I wait? I ask you to inform me, may Allah guide you, for I have come from far away to ask about this question.

The Shaykh : I say: I ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in this good place to heal him and grant him well-being, and not to leave him to this medication. And I tell him that your Lord wants ease for you, so you break your fast and maintain the medication, and you owe nothing. Then, according to the doctors' decision, this impediment will be removed, and you will be able to fast later. So the fasting remains when the treatment ends. I ask Allah the Exalted that it ends with a permanent cure. When this treatment ends, fast what is upon you, either consecutively or separately. Yes.
