The Shaykh : There is no zakah due on that, because the ownership of each one of them does not reach the nisab. One of the conditions for the obligation of zakah is that the gold reaches the nisab, and the nisab of gold is 85 grams. However, if he gave it to them on the basis of a loan, and the ownership remains his such that if he died, it would be inherited from him after his death, then he must combine some of it with the rest until it completes the nisab.
