Worship is nothing but the oneness of the beloved, accompanied by the submission of the heart and limbs, and love is the soul of his conformity in what He loves and hatred of what He does not approve of in the heart, and conformity is the soul

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We have previously mentioned that he (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the two fundamental pillars of worship are: truthfulness and sincerity, along with following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). This is also based on love and magnification. It is impossible to worship without love, absolutely, and it is impossible to be upright without magnification. For this reason, the author said:
"And love is the soul of his conformity in what He loves *** and hatred of what He does not approve of in the heart"
Sincere love is that you conform to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in what He approves of and hate what He does not approve of. So if someone says, "I love Allah, but I do not love prayer," we say to him, "You have lied." And if someone says, "I love Allah, but I do not dislike zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)," we say to him, "You have lied." One who loves Allah must love what Allah loves and must hate what Allah hates.
"And conformity is the soul of your following His command *** and the intention is the Face of Allah, the One of excellence"
If it is asked, "What is conformity?"—conformity with the Lord (Mighty and Majestic)? We say: It is that you follow His commands, intending His Face. This is conformity with Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Then he said:
"This is ihsan (excellence in worship), a condition for the acceptance of the effort, so understand it from the Qur'an"
Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) does not accept anything without ihsan (excellence in worship)
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth وما أمروا إلا ليعبدوا الله مخلصين له الدين حنفاء
[Al-Bayyinah 98:5]
. So that is necessary. And He the Exalted said:
that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed ولا يبلوكم أيكم أحسن عملا
[Hud 11:7]
So a deed that does not contain ihsan (excellence in worship) is not acceptable to Allah.
