The Meaning of the Hadith: Whoever Prays the Funeral Prayer in the Mosque, He Gets Nothing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is the hadith "Whoever prays over a funeral in the mosque, he gets nothing" authentic?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : There is another hadith, Shaykh, which you mentioned in *Sahih* that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over the Companions in the mosque. So is this a negation of the prayer, or a negation of its perfection?

The Shaykh : He gets none of the reward that he would have if he had prayed according to the established Sunnah, which is praying in the prayer area. It is clear, meaning that praying in the prayer area is better than praying over a funeral in the mosque. But if he prays over the funeral in the mosque, he is not blamed, meaning he is not held accountable, but he does not get the reward he would have gotten if he had prayed in the prayer area.
